This year due to increased applications we will be holding interviews on Tuesday 31st August 2010 and Wednesday 1st September 2010.
Applicants will be informed either by email or by post of their allotted times.

FETAC Level 5 Achievement Certificate

Painting
The painting course covers oil painting, watercolour, acrylic
and alternative materials. Subject matter includes painting,
still life and free expression. It is an intensive introductory
course of 5 hours per week.
Drawing
The drawing course introduces students to charcoal, pencil,
pastel, inks and a range of alternative materials in a variety
of subjects: figure drawing, still life, self potraiture and
ultilising fun modern techniques training the eye to see.
Combined Materials
Combined materials offers students the chance to learn many
textile techniques such as felting, batik, papermaking and weaving.
On this course students will learn how to manipulate and mix
varied materials to create a totally orginal art piece.
Printed Textiles
Printed textiles involves silkscreen painting, block printing
and painting on fabric. On this course the student learns how
to use dyes with an emphasis on design, texture and colour.
Sculpture
The student will be taught basic techniques such as modelling
clay, that will be kiln fired. They will use ciment-fondu and
learn to carve in plaster. They will also be encouraged to develop
their own ideas using new and unsual materials.
Photography
This course offers the student a chance to learn and develop
photography skills. From basic understanding to how camera works
to more complex darkroom techniques. There will also be modules
on digital photography and the history and social importance
of photography.

Course Tutors
Caroline Smith studied Textiles at West Surrey
College of Art & Design on completion she worked for a fashion
designer in London. She has exhibited in Ireland, England and
America. Currently she is teaching at Kinsale Further Education
College and the Crawford College of Art and Design.
June Fairhead, originally from Ireland,
worked in the Advertising & Film Industry in New Zealand
& Australia for many years. Returning to the UK, she studied
Fine Art majoring in Sculpture in Kingsway College, London.
She has exhibited extensively in Ireland, Europe & America
and is a member of Cork Printmakers and the National Sculpture
Factory.
Jane Skovgaard grew up in Zimbabwe and graduated
in Fine Art from the Natal Tecnikon, Durban in South Africa
in 1991. Having spent time working in printmaking and painting
in Italy, Spain and the U.S., she settled in Ireland in 1999.
Since then she has had several exhibitions of paintings, drawings
and printed textiles.
Vanessa Keane studied for a photography degree
at Derby University. She then became a press photographer,
specialising in sport, later joining the fashion industry
in London working with top international photographers. Extending
her career, she then worked for Getty Images, Tony Stone Worldwide
and Nikon UK. In 1991 she moved to Ireland and worked with
Giles Norman Photography as darkroom manager for eight years,
prior to joining the Art Department at Kinsale Further Education
College.

For full FETAC Certificate, Communications and Work Experience
are mandatory.
Students may select from different Course groups.
VTOS, BTE and 3rd level grants available.
Study in Kinsale and avoid city traffic.
Public transport available from Cork.
All courses are subject to an adequate number of applicants
and may be subject to change.
Places are awarded on a first come first Served basis.
